Following Safe working practices P3 (c)

To follow out safe working practices, I made this Risk assessment so that I could follow it and minimise any risks or hazards that could be potentially dangerous.

Firstly, there was a risk of someone either shooting the video, or an actor/actress slipping or tripping over wire or equipment/props. The risk was moderate as there were a few props lying around and equipment such as cameras, tripods, chairs, tables but luckily we were not using any additional lights so there were no wires lying around minimising this risk. Before we started to film, we reminded everyone to always be cautious and watch where they are going. We also tried to keep our working space as tidy as possible to help minimise this risk.

Secondly, there was a high risk of adverse weather which firstly if we were filming outside would damage the cameras and also would make people wet and cold. We planned to film at school, mainly in the classrooms but there was a chance we would film a shot outside of the classroom. We did not end up doing this but just incase we had to check the weather forecast so that nothing was damaged and we could bring raincoats.

Thirdly, there was a moderate risk of a hot environment where we were filming. This is because lights would be switched on, and we would be in a room with other people which could possibly cause the room to become very warm. This could cause people to feel ill and dehydrated so to minimise the risk we kept hydrated by bringing in a bottle of water to drink away from any equipment. We also opened windows, and took regular breaks in between filming shots to get fresh air.

Fourthly, there was a relatively high chance of ourselves and actors/actresses having a lack of food/water which could cause dehydration and feeling ill. To minimise this risk, we planned what time we would be filming and brought water and food to have during breaks in between filming. But we did not eat/drink near any equipment used because otherwise it could become damaged.

There was also a moderate risk of someone getting injured by lifting heavy equipment. to minimise this risk we made sure no one ever lifted anything heavy on their own and always ask for help.

Lastly, this is not a safety issue but there was a low risk of people not turning up such as the actors/actresses. To ensure this did not happen we had to make sure everyone knew the times of when we were filming and exactly where they had to go. We also had a contingency plan so that there were backup days we could film in case people did not turn up or were unable to turn up.

Here is the Contingency plan:

Contingency Plan
If we are unable to either finish on Saturday or cannot do it at all on Saturday which is very unlikely then we can do it on, either:
- Wednesday 3rd December from 2pm onwards
- Saturday 6th December from 10am onwards
- If Oliver and ChloƩ are unable to participate then we will use Sam Sherwood and Felicity Stocker
- If we are unable to film in Simone's bedroom, then we will be able to shoot the bedroom scene in my bedroom. If unable to shoot at school, then at the weekend, then we will shoot on Wednesday 3rd December from 2pm onwards.
